Nancy Gerardi of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Southampton, died February 1. She was 93.
Ms. Gerardi was born February 4, 1920, in Brooklyn, where she was raised until the age of 13. The family moved to Marsala, Sicily, Italy, in 1933. She married Mario Gerardi in 1941, had her two oldest children, then in 1946 moved back to Brooklyn, where her third child was born soon after. In 1952 the family moved to Southampton and the Gerardis adopted three children. In 2013, she moved to Pompano Beach.
Survivors said Ms. Gerardi was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to all her children. She was passionate about cooking and abundantly feeding all who came to her home with her hearty, home-cooked Italian meals. She was also a member of the Southampton Full Gospel Church for more than 30 years.
She is survived by six children, Mary Sellentin, Vito Gerardi, Peter Gerardi, Helen Jiskra, Thomas Speedling and Catherine Rosko. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Mario Gerardi; a grandson, Jeffrey Caruana; a son-in-law, Leon Rosko Sr.; and grandson, Leon Rosko Jr.
A wake was held at the Southampton Full Gospel Church on Monday, February 10. A funeral service took place on February 11, followed by interment at the Southampton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
