An electrical fire broke out at a Southampton Village home Saturday morning and was quickly put out, according to Southampton Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Brenner. No injuries were reported.
The fire at a home on Pulaski Street was reported at 7:37 a.m., Mr. Brenner said. When fire chiefs arrived on the scene, they discovered flames near an electric box.
Crews were able to disconnect the power to the residence and extinguish the flames within 45 minutes, according to authorities. PSEG Long Island responded to the scene as well.
The Southampton Town Fire Marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
According to Mr. Brenner, the alarm was called in by the homeowners. “Five minutes more and the house could have sustained major damage,” he said.
Mr. Brenner added the effort was “another great stop by the department.”
