Seventh-grader Connor Rozzi was awarded first place in Suffolk County and the District (Suffolk, Nassau, Queens & Brooklyn counties) and eighth-grader Madison Platt was awarded third place in Suffolk County and fourth place in the District in the Patriot’s Pen program, which is open to students in grades six through eight. The theme for 2013-14 was “What Patriotism Means to Me” and students are asked to write an essay between 300 and 400 words to be submitted to their local participating VFW Post. The students will be presented with awards at a Suffolk County ceremony on Tuesday, February 25, at the Medford VFW Post.

The seventh grade class is sponsoring a Tuckahoe Winter Carnival at SYS (Southampton Youth Services) on Friday, February 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $7 per person or $25 per family; tickets available at the door. There will be carnival games, laser tag, jump castles, Chinese auction, prizes, food and beverages for purchase. Students must be chaperoned by a parent or guardian. Proceeds will go to support the Class of 2015.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Tuckahoe School.

The PTO will hold its annual Family Bingo Night on Friday, March 7.

Prekindergarten and kindergarten registration has been rescheduled for this week between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Please call the main office at (631) 283-3550, ext. 301, to schedule an appointment.
