Stole more than $9,000
The owner of a Bridgehampton landscaping company told Southampton Town Police that he suspects one of his employees of stealing more than $9,000 from the business over the past nine months.
The owner of Hampton Rustic Landscape on Foster Avenue, reported on February 11 that one of his employees who oversees payroll had stolen $9,283 between last May and earlier this month. The victim said he reported the theft after his accountant discovered on February 7 that the money had gone missing.
Southampton Town Police Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa said her division is investigating the complaint but declined to discuss the incident further. “It’s in its initial stages and I really can’t say anything more,” she said.
