The first ever “Shoreline Sweep” in East Hampton was postponed a second time due to inclement weather last weekend and has now been rescheduled for this Saturday, February 22. The event, which will start at 9 a.m., will be pushed back to Sunday if it is again derailed by Mother Nature.
The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, February 8, and postponed due to a heavy buildup of snow and ice on the beaches. It was then rescheduled for this past Saturday, but the weather forced its postponement once again.
The event is being organized by East Hampton nature photographer Dell Cullum, in conjunction with the Town Trustees and the East Hampton Litter Committee.
Volunteers are still being sought to help with picking up trash and debris from the beaches between Wainscott and Montauk. Volunteers are expected to gather afterward for refreshments at a location that has not yet been determined.
