A 27-year-old Montauk man was arrested on Monday night and charged with the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, according to East Hampton Town Police Detective Sergeant Gregory Schaefer.
Juan J. Zhingri-Deleg, a West Lake Drive resident, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. after police received information about an “inappropriate relationship” he had with the victim. Det. Sgt. Schaefer said the rape charge resulted from the age of the victim, and not an accusation of force.
Mr. Zhingri-Deleg was arraigned in East Hampton Justice Court on Tuesday, where bail was set at $100,000 or $200,000 bond. He was taken to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside.
Det. Sgt. Schaefer said the investigation is ongoing and that any anyone with information that may help with the investigation should call 537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.
