On Tuesday, February 24, the school hosted its annual African American Read In & Diaspora Book Sale. Carol Spencer, owner of Diaspora Books, was at the school selling books, calendars and other items. Everything is written by or about people of color. At 2 p.m there was an all school gathering when many read aloud including local authors Jackie Jackson and Joan Ranieri-Certain.
Students went on field trips to the Parrish Art Museum where they worked in pairs and toured the museum and made drawings. They also were able to spend time inside Hayground’s amazing multi-media bee hive installation and listen to the audio.
