For Earth Day, students and their families are filling out “Acts of Greenness Commitment Cards” to help promote environmental awareness and responsibility. Morning Program was held outside on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, and everyone sang songs with an environmental theme. On Friday, April 25, students and staff are urged to bring a trash-free lunch to school, with cloth napkins and all containers and utensils able to be composted or reused. The school is stressing the importance of treating every day like Earth Day.

Thursdays in the Garden will begin in May. On the first two Thursdays of May, 1 and 8, the entire school district family, kindergarten through grade 12, are invited to help. Families will meet at the elementary school greenhouse from 3 to 5 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. If possible, bring wheelbarrows and shovels.

Kindergarten screenings will take place on Monday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 13, for students who are registered for the 2014/15 school year. Parents of registered incoming kindergarteners should call 725-5301 to schedule a screening.
