It was a rather quiet spring break for both the East Hampton boys and girls track teams. The Lady Bonackers went to the Joe Brandi Relays at Connetquot High School on Saturday, while the Bonackers competed at the Suffolk Coaches Meet at Commack High School, also on Saturday.
The Bonackers didn’t bring a large contingent to the Suffolk Coaches Meet due to many of their athletes being away on vacation. But the athletes who showed up on Saturday did well.
Erik Engstrom won the open 3,000-meter steeplechase, in 10:13.31. Thomas Paradiso placed fourth in the freshman/sophomore 800-meter run, in 2:09.79. Adam Cebulski finished the open 1,600-meter race with a personal-best time of 4:39.10, which placed him 12th overall.
Chujvaughn Cameron finished 10th in the freshman/sophomore 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.17 seconds. Cameron also finished the 200-meter dash in a personal-best 24.37 seconds.
Almost all events are run in relay format at the Joe Brandi Relays, except for the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, the 100-meter high hurdles, and the 2,000-meter steeplechase, which are all run in pairs.
Hannah Jungck, Elena Skerys, Liana Paradiso and Dana Cebulski placed seventh in the distance medley relay, which is 1,200-, 400-, 800- and 1,000-meters run consecutively. They finished in 14:04.8.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Gabbie McKay, Allesia Williams, Cecilia Blowe and Allura Leggard finished eighth, in 1:54.9, while the 4×800-meter relay team of Jungck, Paradiso, Cebulski and Alyssa Bahel also placed eighth, in 10:37.9. Cebulski and Jungck combined for a time of 16:59.1 in the 2,000-meter steeplechase to finish eighth.
