Cast members of the school’s spring production of “Snoopy!—The Musical,” a musical comedy, have been nominated by the East End Arts Council to receive a Teeny Award in the following categories: Jennah Hochstedler for Best Lead Actress in a Musical and the whole cast for “Outstanding Ensemble.” The East End Arts Council will hold its awards ceremony on Sunday, June 8, at Longwood High School in Middle Island.

Athletic Director Mary Ann Jules and physical education and health teacher Steve Meyers received training and are currently teaching The First Tee, a national junior golf program designed to teach golf with an emphasis on good character and the nine core values of honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. On May 1, Bridgehampton students in grade three through five traveled to Montauk Downs golf course to participate in a golf clinic generously donated to First Tee participants by Kevin Smith, head golf pro and supporter of the program. Mr. Smith and Laura Carlisle, pro shop operations assistant and the National First Tee Golf in Schools program coordinator for the East End led the session.

Mr. Hand’s and Ms. Rivera’s third- and fourth-grade classes visited the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium in Centerport on April 23. Students viewed William K. Vanderbilt’s large collection of cultural artifacts, invertebrate, and bird specimens from around the world at the museum and learned about constellations in a planetarium show.

Ms. Rivera’s fourth grade class also enjoyed a walking field trip into town where they visited both the Candy Kitchen restaurant and The Chase Edwards Fine Art Gallery on Main Street, which opened on May 3. The fourth grade received a special invitation to visit the new contemporary art gallery by owner Bonnie Edwards, the mom of Bridgehampton student Chase Gudelauski.

Bridgehampton junior and senior high school students met with New York Times-bestselling novelist Tonya Hurly on Tuesday, May 6, at what is hoped to be the first of occasional young adult author visits to Hampton Library, a Tuesdays at Seven program that introduces authors who write for and about teens to local students.
