Southampton High School

The school’s chapter of Girls Learn International will be hosting a film screening of “Girl Rising” on Monday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. Proceeds from this event will go to support the education of their partner school in Afghanistan, Sorya High School. Donations will be accepted in any dollar amount.

Southampton Intermediate School

The annual Career Fair took place on May 8. Community members shared information about their careers with the students to inspire them to begin to look to their future college and career goals.

Southampton Elementary School

Students in kindergarden, grades one and two performed in their spring concerts last week, entertaining their parents, friends and family members with their Suzuki violin performances and vocal selections. Students in the pre-K hosted a special Mother’s Day Tea on Friday, May 9. The event began with dancing in the school cafeteria followed by a light snack in the gymnasium, which had been transformed into a beautiful tea room. The students sang to their moms and presented them with special hand-made gifts.

An informational meeting about kindergarten will be held on Thursday, May 22, at 6 p.m.


Fourth-graders Monique Fuchs and Ethan Gates, and eighth-graders Amira Nation, William Segarra, and Sebastian Pereira were named this year’s Southampton Elementary School and Southampton Intermediate School Suffolk Zone 2014 Physical Education Leadership Award winners. The students received their awards at a special ceremony held on May 7 at Longwood High School. This award is given for outstanding leadership, fitness, citizenship and excellence in physical education.

The school district’s 2014 Summer Enrichment Program information is now available on the district website, complete with an online registration form. The program will run from July 1 through August 1 and has selections for students in kindergarten through grade 12, including music and fine arts, STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, & Math), athletics and fitness and more. Summer Enrichment is available to both district and non-district residents, however non-district residents will pay a slightly higher fee.

The Southampton School District budget vote is on Tuesday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Southampton Intermediate School music room (entrance on the north side of the building).
