East Hampton Village officials announced Monday that they have created a hotline and email address for residents to report construction and leaf blower noise.
The points of contact were created after an April 17 board meeting where the time frame and hours for such activities were being amended.
“That noise complaint hotline will give us a chance to see where the bad actors are and take the onus off the people who want to register the complaint,” said Kathy Cunningham at an April 3 Village Board meeting.
Ms. Cunningham worked with industry professionals, board member Barbara Borsack, and other members of the board to help the idea come to fruition, comparing the implementation of a hotline to the noise hotline at the airport.
The hotline and the email address allow residents who do not want to file a formal complaint with East Hampton Village Police to still have the incident documented. The phone number will connect to the Village Police Department dispatch, which will assist the caller in documentation.
To file a complaint, call the toll-free number 1-844-324-0777, or file via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
