Erik Engstrom and Thomas Paradiso showed at the Freshman/Sophomore Championships on May 13 at Longwood High School that the future of the East Hampton boys track team is bright.
Engstrom placed second in the sophomore 3,200-meter race in a personal best 9:59.11, just two seconds behind winner Victor Garifo of Bayport/Blue Point. Paradiso just missed out on winning the 800-meter run. He placed second in a personal best 2:01.16, just .09 seconds behind Hauppauge’s Nick Beglane.
East Hampton didn’t have many athletes compete in the freshman races. Josh Dempsey was able to score a point for East Hampton by placing sixth in the 3,200-meter race in 11:02.85.
