The East Hampton Town Police force is stepping up its social media presence, East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo said in an email on Tuesday morning.
The department joined Twitter on Tuesday morning with the handle @EHTPD1. It also created a Facebook page in mid-May, which can be found by searching for “East Hampton Town Police Department, NY.”
Both forms of social media will be used to share information about road closures and special events, as well as notifications about missing and wanted persons, among other news.
“We are in the early stages of establishing protocols and will be utilizing social media more in the coming weeks to share information,” Chief Sarlo said in the email.
