The annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony led by high school English teacher Lenore Wright was held last Thursday in the school gymnasium. New members meeting the four requirements of scholarship, leadership, service and character who were inducted into the Honor Society and awarded certificates from Superintendent/Principal Dr. Lois Favre were Daniel Denton, Claudio Figueroa, Jada Pinckney, Harriet DeGroot, Elizabeth Hochstedler, Matthew Hochstedler, Chjuvaughn Cameron and Laura Uribe. New National Junior Honor Society inductees were Max Cheng, Jonathan DeGroot and Autumn Coffey. A reception for all current honor society members, parents, Board of Education members, faculty and staff took place after the ceremony in the school cafe.

Second-grade students in Mrs. Poole’s and Ms. Schwab’s class have been studying the life cycle of a butterfly. The class observed and recorded the metamorphosis phases of egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult butterfly in their classroom. The group of second-graders and teachers released the adult butterflies on May 23 outside on the school grounds.

The Parent Teacher Organization will hold elections for its officers for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. in room 24 of the main building. PTO positions include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and trustees. All new members are welcome.
