East Hampton Town Police identified the deceased woman as Nikole Doering, 37, of Coram. She was found in a parked car by the overlook on Old Montauk Highway in Montauk on Monday afternoon.
Ms. Doering was found by police at approximately 3 p.m. that day, according to Detective Sergeant Greg Schaefer. Ms. Doering’s family had reported her missing to the Suffolk County Police Department on Sunday. Her cause of death has yet to be determined, Det. Sgt. Schaefer said.
East Hampton Town Police are investigating the death of a woman in Montauk, who was found in a parked car by the overlook on Old Stone Highway on Monday.
Chief Michael Sarlo said in an email that a helicopter brought out the Suffolk County Medical Examiner on Monday evening to further investigate the death. Cheif Sarlo was unable to be reached by phone for comment.
Mario Serin, an assistant manager at the nearby Surfside Inn, said the overlook by the hotel was blocked off with caution tape when he arrived at work around 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
“About an hour later, a helicopter landed and a bunch of people wearing blue gloves got out,” he said in a phone interview. “I think it’s about a dead body.”
A press release will be sent out regarding the issue, said Chief Sarlo in an email.
