John P. Strecker Of Hampton Bays Dies June 2

John P. Strecker, known as “Pete,” of Hampton Bays died on June 2 at Southampton Hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Strecker was a veteran of the Korean War and worked for Car Quest Auto Parts in Hampton Bays for many years. He was very active with the Hampton Bays Little League for more than 30 years, remembered by many as a wonderful coach to aspiring ballplayers.

Mr. Strecker was predeceased by his wife, Pearl (Brunner). He is survived by two sons, Mark and wife Maryann, and Kenneth and wife Mary, all of Hampton Bays; and five grandchildren, Peter, Michael, Justin, Jared and Allison.

The family will receive friends at J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service conducted by Reverend Eric Rey. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Rosalie on Friday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
