The athletic director position at the Sag Harbor School District has become a revolving door—and the search for a new AD will, once again, take place this summer. According to a source, Todd Gulluscio announced to his coaches on May 27 that, pending School Board approval this coming Monday on June 16, he will be accepting an administrative position at another East End school district starting on July 1.
Gulluscio, a Shelter Island native, was hired in January 2013 as the sixth different AD for Sag Harbor since Nick DeCillis’s departure in 2007. The list includes Montgomery Granger, who previously held the position, Wayne Shierant, Bill Madsen, Mike Burns and Dan Nolan. Prior to Sag Harbor, Gulluscio worked in the Greenport School District, where he was employed for seven years, the final two and a half as AD.
When reached on June 4, Sag Harbor Interim Superintendent of Schools Carl Bonuso said the district had not received an official resignation from Gulluscio just yet, but that there was the possibility of “a very positive opportunity for him.”
Word of Gulluscio’s departure came just before the Long Island Class C Championship for the varsity baseball team and Class C Regional Final for the varsity softball team this past weekend. Both teams were victorious and reached the New York State Championships, which are this weekend.
