One Person Flown To Stony Brook Hospital Following Early Morning Crash Tuesday


One person was flown to Stony Brook Hospital Tuesday morning with non-life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash on Montauk Highway in Water Mill.

The Southampton Fire Department was called to the scene, just outside Hampton Coffee Company on Montauk Highway, at approximately 12:06 a.m., Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner said on Tuesday morning. Emergency responders used the jaws of life to free one victim, who was trapped in a small pick-up truck. The victim was transported via Southampton Volunteer Ambulance to the soccer field on Deerfield Road, where he was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook.

One person in the other vehicle was transported by Southampton Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital, while a third victim was transported via the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital. Chief Rick Fowler was in charge on scene for the village ambulance.

Traffic on Montauk Highway was diverted for one hour while crews worked at the scene. First Assistant Chief Michael Kampf of the Southampton Fire Department was in charge.
