Michael Ambrose III Of Southampton Dies June 23

Michael Ambrose III of Southampton died June 23, 2017, of throat cancer and going into cardiac arrest two weeks prior. He was 58.

Born at Southampton Hospital on January 8, 1959, to Michael Ambrose Jr. and Ella Ambrose, Mr. Ambrose was a lifelong resident of Southampton, graduating from Southampton High School in 1977. He lived in North Sea with his wife of 29 years, JoAnna Ambrose, with whom he had two children, Michael Ambrose IV and Stanton Christopher Ambrose.

Mr. Ambrose owned a construction company, Ambrose Construction, for more than 20 years, prior to which he ran his father’s landscaping business. He had worked for a number of other local companies as well over the years. He earned a proclamation from former Southampton Village Mayor Joseph Romanowski for his many years of volunteering in the community. He participated in the Polar Bear Plunge every year, the Chowder Fest of the Presbyterian Church, and multiple functions and events for Human Resources Of The Hamptons, including the Christmas and Thanksgiving food and gift giveaways. He was also a familiar sight and crowd favorite at the dunking booth at the North Sea Fire Department Carnival and was a dunking booth champion.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnna; sons, Michael of North Carolina and Stanton of Southampton; and two daughters from a previous marriage, Kelly and Laura Ambrose of Wyoming; his mother, Ella of Southampton; a sister, Mary of Southampton; and brothers, Todd and John of Southampton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. He was predecease by his father, Michael Ambrose Jr.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
