Home heating assistance applications for low- to moderate-income New York state residents are currently being accepted through the Home Energy Assistance Program.
Run by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, the program provides more than $327 million in federal funding to eligible state residents, who can then receive up to $726 per household to pay their home heating bills. In addition, households may qualify for emergency heating assistance if they are at risk of having their heating services shut off, or are running out of home-heating fuel.
Last year, more than 66,000 households on Long Island received heating assistance through the program.
